The Subaru EJ257 & EJ20 engine's head gasket failure is a common problem with the Impreza WRX/STI 2006 onwards. It can present itself in low or high-millage cars alike. Typical symptoms are as follows. 

• Overheating on or off boost
• The smell of carbon gases in the water system
• The pressurisation of the water system resulted in an overflow of the plastic expansion tank

The fix is simple. We remove the engine and install up-rated head studs and gaskets while servicing and skimming cylinder heads. This ensures no further HG problems.
